Body found in White River near downtown Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A body was found Sunday afternoon in the White River near downtown Indianapolis, according to Indiana Conservation Officers investigating the incident.

Emergency personnel were called around 12:45 p.m. to the 1200 block of West Washington Street.

The identity of the person, a man, has not been released.

Anyone with information on the identity of the person is asked to call the Marion County Coroner's Office at 317-327-4744.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and IUPUI Police Department officers and personnel from the Indianapolis Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Conservation Officers are handling the investigation, IMPD Officer Samone Burris said in an email.
