John Taylor, the bassist in the popular 80s band Duran Duran, says he's made a full recovery after testing positive for the new coronavirus last month.
The 59-year-old musician made the announcement on the band's Facebook page.
“I am speaking out in answer to the enormous amount of fear being generated by the pandemic, some of it entirely justified, and my heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with real loss and pain,” Taylor wrote in part. “But I want to let you know that it isn't always a killer, and we can and will beat this thing.”
Taylor stated he was “blessed” to get what he believed to be a mild case of coronavirus, and he described his illness as a turbo-charged flu.
As for isolation, the bassist said he didn’t mind it, because it allowed him to recover.
Worldwide, there are more than 1.2 million cases of COVID-19 and more than 70,000 deaths as a result of the virus.
