CARMEL — It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas — at least it is in Carmel. The Carmel Christkindlmarket is set up and ready to open this weekend.

Center Green is all decked out for the holidays for the annual Carmel Christkindlmarkt, and this year more than 50 vendors are surrounding the ice skating rink.

"My favorites... I like the dark stained woods," Bradford Bopp, Owner of Frankenmuth Clock Company, said. "The hunters, this is an owl set, it's kind of fun to see the traditional German clocks."

One of the new vendors this year is Bopp, and his hut full of cuckoo clocks.

"All these pieces are handcrafted, and then they are painted, and then they are assembled, and so all these pieces are glued on individually," Bopp said.

Bopp is a fertility doctor in Carmel, but recently became the owner of Frankenmuth Clock Company.

Like most items you'll see at the market, along with the authentic gifts, you can also sample German candies, drinks, and hot chocolate.

"When you come here, you're kind of swept into a whole different world," Maria Murphy, CEO of Carmel Christkindlmarkt, said.

"About 50 percent of all people in Indiana have German heritage. It runs deep," Murphy said. 'So, when people come here, there's just a lot of connection with the German culture."

The Carmel Christkindlmarkt opens at Noon on Saturday. It will be open Wednesday through Sunday during the holiday season.
