Lauren Schwentker joined WRTV as a Multimedia Journalist in July of 2024 after spending three years in Springfield, Missouri at the local NBC and ABC affiliate, KY3.
Before moving to the Circle City, Lauren was a lead nightside reporter and fill-in morning anchor for Ozarks Today at KY3 News.
During her time at KY3, Lauren was heavily covering local crime, court cases and breaking news. One of her most memorable stories was the coverage of a drive-by shooting investigation in 2022. Lauren’s breaking news coverage of the incident helped the KY3 newsroom win a Missouri Broadcasters Award for “Best Breaking News Coverage”. She has covered multiple stories that grabbed national attention including the social media uproar inmate Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
Lauren is from the Midwest and calls St. Louis, MO home. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where she spent time reporting at the local NBC affiliate, KOMU-TV.
Her passion for journalism started at a young age, following in her father's footsteps who is a Chief Photographer at KSDK in St. Louis, MO.
She is excited to call Indianapolis her new home and to be able to tell your stories. If you see Lauren out and about, be sure to say hi! You can also reach her at Lauren.Schwentker@wrtv.com or on her Facebook page LaurenSchwentkerTV.
