INDIANAPOLIS — In the heart of the Circle City lies a circle familiar to many Hoosiers - Monument Circle.

From the beginning, the Circle was designed to be scenic and functional. It’s been home to everything from an unoccupied governor’s residence to countless celebrations, concerts, festivals and protests.

Former Channel 6 anchor and reporter Howard Caldwell visited Monument Circle in May 1980 to provide a look back at its history. The report was part of his series called Howard’s Indiana.
