INDIANAPOLIS — It's an Indianapolis tradition that thousands of people look forward to every year — the 57th annual Circle of Lights Celebration.

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument will be lit into a giant Christmas tree.

During the celebration, there will be an encore performance of the new signature salute light show. Then the switch will be slipped just before 8 p.m.

If you plan on heading downtown, there will be some traffic tie-ups.

Meridian Street between Monument Circle and Pearl Street will remain closed until 11:30 p.m. Monument Circle, and all the spokes leading into it closed at 8 a.m. Friday and will reopen at Midnight.

Washington Street between Pennsylvania Street and Illinois Street will close at 4 p.m. and reopen at 11:30 p.m.

IndyGo says the Red Line will have regular operation during the event, but riders should expect delays.
