INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis will close for five days while a Black Lives Matter mural is painted on the road.
Indiana Avenue will close between West and Blackford streets from Thursday afternoon through Monday afternoon, according to a press release from the Indianapolis Department of Public Works.
While the road closures are in place, drivers should use the following detours:
- Drivers going northwest on Indiana Avenue should use West Street, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, 11th Street, 10th Street, and University Boulevard instead
- Drives going southeast on Indiana Avenue should use University Boulevard, New York Street, and West Street instead
The plan to paint the mural was approved by the City-County Council earlier this month.
