Plans to bring life back to downtown Indy to be announced

INDIANAPOLIS — What to do about downtown Indianapolis?

The city's core has been hit hard by the pandemic, the looting in late May, the homeless problem and other issues.

Wednesday, at 11 a.m. Mayor Joe Hogsett and the president of Downtown Indy, Inc. will announce city funding for initiatives developed by the Downtown Recovery Committee.

PREVIOUS: Downtown Indianapolis: A plan to get the city center back on track

WRTV first reported on the committee in late June. The funding to be announced Wednesday is the first part of an overall plan being developed by the the group. The goal is to address the the immediate economic, public health, and public safety challenges facing the downtown core.

Wednesday's event is at 11 a.m. at the Indiana Convention Center.
