DENVER — Police in Denver say a private security guard working for a local TV station was jailed for investigation of first-degree murder in the deadly shooting of another man during dueling right- and left-wing protests.

The shooting took place in downtown Denver on Saturday afternoon.

The Denver Post reported the guard — identified as 30-year-old Matthew Dolloff — was taken into custody after a clash in which another man apparently slapped him and sprayed him with Mace.

Dolloff is accused of shooting the man with a handgun near the courtyard outside the Denver Art Museum.

Dolloff was working as a private security guard for Denver television station KUSA when the shooting occurred.
