WAYNE COUNTY — An administrator with the Northeastern Wayne School Corporation has been placed on administrative leave while the district conducts an investigation.

“Members of the Northeastern community, as well as the public at large, are aware that comments and allegations that are posted on Facebook and other social media outlets are not necessarily factual nor accurate comments on what is occurring or has happened,” said Dr. Laura Blessing.

Indiana State Police has also started the “very early stages” of a preliminary criminal investigation.

“As is the policy of the Indiana State Police, we do not routinely discuss specific names or facts of ongoing investigations unless public safety is involved,” said Sgt. John Bowling, ISP Public Information Officer. “Although it is very early in this investigation, this case does not appear to rise to that level (involving public safety) at this time.”

Blessing said the district would share information it can legally release when such release is appropriate.

“Northeastern officials will continue to assist the proper authorities in their investigations and the work they do,” Blessing said. “When the investigation is completed, Northeastern Wayne School Corporation will issue a statement at that time.”
