CALL 6: Off Broadway Antique Mall in Delaware Co. closes without warning locking patrons out

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- The operator of the Off Broadway Antique Mall in Delaware County closed without warning, leaving working families locked out with no access to their merchandise and no payments for their December sales.

Chelsea McDonnel has a booth at the Antique Mall but says she hasn’t been able to get to it. Her children make items to sell and learn about business and work and she uses the extra money they make to help pay the bills.

“It’s an act of betrayal and I feel my children have been betrayed on this as well,” said McDonnel.

McDonnel is one of the dozens of vendors and others who have been trying to reach the mall operator, Virginia Randall, about why the buildings are suddenly locked up tight. But so far, no one is getting any return calls.

“She took my check 1st of January for rent knowing she wasn’t going to open and cashed it at the end of the day so I couldn’t stop payment,” said Janice Wagner.

Randall manages the antique mall, which is located at 2404 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., and Climate Controlled Storage – both buildings have been locked up tight.

RTV6 Chief Investigator Rafael Sanchez reached out to the company’s lawyer who says the buildings will remain closed but vendors can get their merchandise during a three-day window next month: February 1-3.

The lawyer has not released the exact hours when the buildings will be opened.
