INDIANAPOLIS — Twenty-four residents of a Madison County nursing home have died, suspected of COVID-19, Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box said Friday.
The 24 residents lived at Bethany Pointe. On Monday, Box said 11 residents had died.
Of those 24, 16 tested positive for COVID-19. The other eight had symptoms that matched the virus.
“This is a tragedy for the families,” Box said. “It’s a tragedy for the health care staff that grew close to these residents. It’s a tragedy for our entire state. That is why we continue to expand our strike teams and send them into long-term care facilities all across the state.”
