FRANKLIN — Places of worship are looking for safe ways to praise in the days and weeks ahead.

A church in Franklin on Friday held its first of many planned drive-thru communions.

Pastor Evie Stuard is taking church and communion outdoors. Members drive through to get a wafer, a grape and a moment of prayer.

The sanctuary at Tabernacle Christian Church sits in the dark. Pews will be empty this Sunday but it's the spirit of the people that is being filled at the church's drive-thru.

During the public health emergency, the church plans to provide drive-thru communion every Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
