CARMEL — This would have been year 47 for GreekFest, the popular late-summer festival that started in Indianapolis and moved to Carmel with its host, Holy Trinity Green Orthodox Church.
But, COVID-19 has forced a change of plans. Organizers have announced the cancellation of GreekFest this year.
Here is the statement posted on Facebook:
2020 has been a challenging year for us all. Over the past months, we have been working diligently to create an alternative to our annual Indy GreekFest. Our goal has been to ensure a safe environment for our volunteers and patrons while providing the opportunity to celebrate our Faith and culture.
Unfortunately, it is not to be. Health and safety concerns are our overriding priority. Therefore, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 GreekFest.
We apologize for any inconvenience.and look forward to serving you at GreekFest 2021!
The festival had been scheduled for August 28-30.
