INDIANAPOLIS — The deadline is approaching for nonprofit organizations in Marion County to apply for grant money that can go toward receiving a reimbursement for personal protective equipment.

The City of Indianapolis and the United Way of Central Indiana partnered to form the Nonprofit Restart Program, which provides $200-$5,000 from the federal CARES Act to help any 501(c)(3) in Marion County take precautionary steps to safely reopen their facilities to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The deadline to apply is Friday.

Nonprofits that receive funding can use it to purchase PPE, disinfectant products and for capital improvements needed to develop safety measures for social distancing.

Eligible nonprofits must be located in Marion County and have achieved a 501(c)3 status from the state prior to Feb. 15, 2020. They also must have purchased PPE and other health and safety items as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and submit all receipts to receive a grant. Purchases must have occurred between March 16-Aug. 15, 2020.
