INDIANAPOLIS -- With downtown Indianapolis hotel occupancy rates at historic lows, staying open makes no sense for some of the bigger hotels.
The upscale Conrad Hotel is the latest to shut it doors, announcing Tuesday it is closed for the time being.
The Conrad joins such hotels as the JW Marriott in suspending operations.
Because of COVID-19, there is no convention business, very little business travel, and no sporting events.
Recent figures reported last week put downtown hotel occupancy at seven percent, a 91% drop from the beginning of March.
