INDIANAPOLIS -- Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Kings Island, Cedar Point. All in the same boat, hoping to open for 2020 when it's safe to do so.
But when will that be? Earlier this month, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana said it hoped to open in early June.
Monday, Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville announced plans to open the park "at the beginning of June," although the exact date will be determined by "ongoing developments."
“We intend to follow the guidelines issued by government health officials for both our team members and our guests,” said Lesly Birkner, Vice President of Operations. She continued, “Safety has always been Kentucky Kingdom’s number one priority and we will implement any additional measures necessary to maintain our high standards.”
When it does open, Kentucky Kingdom will extend its operating hours, opening at 10:00 a.m. and closing at 9:00 p.m. In addition, Hurricane Bay water park will stay open until 8:00 p.m. every day.
King's Island and Cedar Point are owned by the same company. Each has similar messages on their websites. Neither is setting a time for opening.
