FRANKLIN — More than 5,000 students begin their journey in Johnson County on Monday.
"I hope kids understand we are looking out for the best for them. Masks can be uncomfortable, but we need them to wear them at all times to keep everyone safe," Alison Kentros, a Franklin Community Schools bus driver, said.
After Kentros' daily routine bus check-up, all windows will be open weather permitting.
The windows open will allow for better circulation in response to COVID-19. Before the pandemic, Bus 140 could regularly transport more than 60 kids, maybe even three to a seat. Now, only two to a bench and siblings will be encouraged to ride together.
"It's a lot to get used to, but we can make it happen."
