GREENFIELD — Greenfield-Central Junior High School is moving to a hybrid schedule starting Nov. 30 for at least three weeks because of an increase of COVID-19-related student and staff absences.

The junior high school will remain on the schedule until at least Dec. 18, Dr. Harold Olin, superintendent of Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation said in a letter to parents. The high school is currently on a hybrid scheduled.

Scheduling decisions for the return to school in January have not yet been made, Olin said.

The decision to move junior high school students to a hybrid schedule is to help reduce the number of students in the building and reduce the risk of potential COVID-19 spreading.

"We recognize that this shift is not ideal for some of our families," Olin said. "However, our primary commitment continues to be maintaining the safest environment possible for students during this current surge we are experiencing."
