BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University students returning for the fall semester on the Bloomington campus will have to be tested for COVID-19 first.

The university, in a message to students, said the test must take place within 10-days before arriving in Bloomington. It applies to students living on and off-campus.

Test results must be reported to the school. Information on how to do that will be sent to students soon. The test may be completed anywhere. Any cost will be the student's responsibility.

Additionally, international students must self-quarantine for two weeks after arriving in the U.S.

IU's mandate follows a similar one from Purdue. All students must be tested for COVID-19 before moving into residence halls and attending classes this August. Purdue will pay for the testing.

Those students living off campus will also be required to be tested for COVID-19 and have negative test results on file with the PPHC prior to participating in an on-campus program in August or attending their first in-person class.

Specific instructions will soon be provided on how and when to get tested for COVID-19 in August before traveling to campus, while allowing adequate time for processing and reporting test results before arrival.
