INDIANAPOLIS — New figures from Purdue and Indiana University show only a small number of returning students testing positive for COVID-19.
Both schools released the latest test results Wednesday.
At IU, more than 14,000 students who will live on or off-campus have been tested, and about one-percent were positive for COVID-19.
IU is isolating the positive students and quarantining their close contacts. "We are not ignoring this pandemic, we are doing everything in our power to make being a part of our community safer than not being part of it," said Provost Lauren Robel.
At Purdue, 99.26 percent of students who have received results of their COVID-19 tests are virus-free. Just over 30,000 returning students have been tested.
As part of the Protect Purdue Plan, students must have a negative COVID-19 test before they can arrive on campus for the fall semester.
