INDIANAPOLIS -- The recent tragic death of IMPD Officer Breann Leath, who was responding to a domestic violence report, is calling more attention to the problem of domestic violence.

The State of Indiana says there is no better time than now for victims to know there is help out there, and that includes the ability to contact 911 discreetly.

Text-to-911 for help offers everyone in Indiana the opportunity to request emergency services in domestic violence scenarios or any other type of emergency without drawing attention to themselves.

Text-to-911 has been available on a statewide basis since 2016.

The state says hundreds of thousands of text conversations have taken place between dispatchers and people in trouble.
