INDIANAPOLIS — The latest COVID-19 spike shows not the elderly, but younger Hoosiers getting the coronavirus.

White House Coronavirus Task Force leader, Dr. Deborah Birx, told RTV6 that she supports the closing of bars and other public places where people gather because of the fact younger people are contracting COVID-19.

Dr. Birx says its a misconception that younger people are trouble-free from COVID-19.

"We're seeing what was young people, becoming mothers and fathers, that's getting infected. The aunts and uncles. And the grandparents. And the grandparents now are coming into the hospital desperately ill," Dr. Birx said. "And two-thirds of the individuals that are coming to the hospital desperately ill were infected in their households."
