FISHERS — Students in Hamilton Southeastern Schools will return to the classroom beginning next week.
The district's board of trustees on Wednesday approved a recommendation to move students in grades PreK to sixth grade to 100% in-person learning and grades 7 to 12 to a hybrid 50/50 schedule beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19.
According to a district spokesperson, a virtual-only option will be offered for students who wish to continue learning at home through the end of the 2020-21 school year.
In addition, the district will also implement e-learning days on Fridays.
"E-learning Fridays will provide needed time to support individual and small groups of students and provide a more targeted approach to instruction with enrichment and/or remediation for students with specific needs," Superintendent Dr. Allen Bourff said.
The district said students in all grades will be able to access their teacher's plan(s) and/or assignments through Canvas by 9 a.m. each Friday.
The e-learning Fridays also will give teachers additional time to schedule in-person activities to complete hands-on lab experiences, assessments and professional development, the district said.
The district implemented 100% virtual learning for all students in the district in mid-November because of a lack of sub coverage for many of the district's classrooms.
