KNIGHTSTOWN — All students in a Henry County school district will begin virtual learning on Thursday because of a rise in positive COVID-19 cases.

Superintendent Jediah Behny on Wednesday confirmed the move from in-person to virtual learning beginning Thursday for all students in the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corp., which serves Knightstown and the surrounding area.

"This change is taking place due to a recommendation and continued discussion with our local health department," Behny said. "Recently, we have seen a significant increase in quarantine numbers of staff and students."

The district's target date for returning to in-person instruction is Nov. 9, Behny said.

"Our goal is to maximize in-person instruction," Behny said. "It is our hope that this proactive approach will help slow our increase in quarantine numbers and allow us to return to, and maintain, our traditional instruction plan."
