CONNERSVILLE — More than 150 Hoosiers are out of work after a business in Fayette County announced they were closing and cited the coronavirus COVID-19 as one of the main reasons.
Wayzata Home Products in Connersville filed a WARN Notice with the state of Indiana on Friday closing all of their facilities immediately.
"Due to significant and recent unforeseeable circumstances, including the market and financial impact of the global spread of COVID-19 (commonly refered to as "coronavirus") and the Company's unsuccessful efforts to obtain additional capital investment, the Company has made the decision to permanently cease all of its businesss operations effective today," the company write in the notice.
The business, located in the 4900 block of Western Avenue, is now permanently closed.
According to the notice sent to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, 165 employees were immediately terminated and without employment at the time of the closure.
Wayzata also said that they were unable to provide the required 60 days' notice, as required by the WARN Act, because of the loss of investors partly due to the financial impact of the coronavirus.
