INDIANAPOLIS — All Indiana voters will be able to vote by mail with no excuse for the 2020 primary election, in a measure the Indiana Election Commission approved Wednesday.

The changes are due to the coronavirus pandemic in Indiana.

The commission unanimously approved all the changes Gov. Eric Holcomb recommended, which include the following:

  • Officially moving the primary election from May 5, 2020 to June 2, 2020
  • Pushing back all deadlines related to the primary election by 28 days
  • Requesting the Indiana Election Division create an absentee ballot application online

The recommendations were approved unanimously in a public meeting via video chat, with more than 100 members of the public watching. The Indiana Election Commission is scheduled to meet again on April 22 to further discuss any necessary changes.
