INDIANAPOLIS — As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to increase in Indiana, one doctor at IU Health says people staying at home is having a big impact.
Dr. Cole Beeler says they are keeping a close on supplies, even though they have enough personal protective equipment right now.
"We are getting ready here to see the peak I think in the next few weeks, so it's game time at this point," Beeler said.

As of now, Beeler says they are ok with the number of ICU beds they have, but they are starting to fill up quickly.
"We are adding ICU beds as time goes on, in order to make sure we can meet the growing demand for not only ventilators, but very close nursing care and attention to patients who are critically ill, " Beeler said.
He thinks healthcare workers will be able to keep up with the increased number of patients thanks to people who are following social distancing guidelines and staying home.
"I think that we've been really lucky so far because I can really tell people are trying to stay home, avoiding clustering together," Beeler said. "Keep that good work up."
As of right now, Beeler says the modeling they are getting shows they should be able to have enough resources to get through the surge of patients they are expecting.
