INDIANAPOLIS – The city of Indianapolis and Visit Indy announced Monday details to its a $1 million grant program to help local businesses with outdoor dining in the winter months.
The city will reimburse establishments affected by COVID-19 up to $2,500 for expenses related to winter preparedness during the pandemic.
The expenses could be things like heaters, outdoor seating capacity, canopies, or other necessary PPE.
The application period runs from Oct. 30-Nov. 20.
“Outdoor seating continues to be the safest route for restaurants, bars, and venues,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “We want to help establishments make any adjustments they can to keep this practice going, and I encourage businesses owners to visit the site in advance of the application process to ensure they are fully prepared to take advantage of these funds.”
The grants can be used for purchases or rentals made from July 1-Nov. 20. In order to be eligible, the business must have a properly permitted permanent or temporary outdoor seating area, or if unable to operate an outdoor area, business offers food delivery via a third party.
