INDIANAPOLIS — All active Indianapolis Public School employees will be paid by the district through the closures due to coronavirus.

The employees who will continue to be paid include support personnel, transportation workers and custodians.

The IPS closures are scheduled to last until May 1, but could be extended.

"I'm proud of the work we're doing to take care of our team members and am very appreciative to the IPS Board of School Commissioners for approving a resolution that gives the administration the flexibility to provide peace of mind for our employees during this uncertain time," IPS Superintendent Aleesia Johnson said. "We want to be a good employer and make sure we're not creating financial hardships for our team members who work very hard to support our students and families."
