INDIANAPOLIS – Now 10 months into the COVID-19 pandemic, Hoosiers are continuing to file first-time unemployment claims at much higher rates than pre-pandemic.
The Department of Labor reported 12,791 new unemployment claims by Hoosiers.
The number is a decrease from last week's total, which has been adjusted to 14,255. The number of claims in Indiana remained above 20,000 for 17 straight weeks from early March to mid-July.
In the 42 weeks since the COVID-19 pandemic began, more than 1.2 million Hoosiers have filed for unemployment.
