Pawn shops say they expect to see a spike in business in the coming weeks.

Many people might not realize it but pawn shops are considered essential businesses. According to Dustin Kellogg, general manager at the Trading Post in Marion, while people are trying to make ends meet during the COVID-19 pandemic they can look to stores like his as a finance company.

"Groceries, you need toilet paper, canned goods and you can pawn a TV to do that," Kellogg said. "You can pawn a game system. You can bring those items in to get the cash to get those needs done while you're out of work.
