AVON — A second staff member at Avon High School has tested positive for COVID-19.
Just four days ago, Avon Community School Corporation confirmed to RTV6 that a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus. That unknown staff member had not been at the high school and had not been in any contact with students or additional staff.
On Monday, the district sent a second statement confirming that another staff member had tested positive for COVID-19. According to the school, that staff member had been in the school building since classes began.
The district said, in part:
"ACSC staff have gone through training on recognizing symptoms. The individual who tested positive may return to school upon the direction of County Health Officials."
The district did not share any other information, due to privacy laws.
Avon was the first school to close in the Spring following several COVID-19 diagnoses and contact reports. They were also the first school system to reopen, with safety precautions in place, for the fall semester.
