INDIANAPOLIS — A staff member at Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill died with COVID-19, increasing the death toll at Indiana's state prisons to 48, according to statistics from the Indiana Department of Correction.

Four state prison staff members and 44 offenders statewide have died with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19.

According to the IDOC numbers, there have been tests administered to 5,189 staff members with 1,371 positive cases. There have been 13,345 tests administered to inmates with 2,993 positive cases. Currently, 502 inmates are in quarantine, while 249 are in isolation with COVID-19.

To date, 10 inmates have died at New Castle, eight at Plainfield, seven at Miami, six at Westville, four at Pendleton, three at Putnamville, two each at Correctional Industrial and Indiana State and one each at Branchville and Wabash Valley.

The four staff member fatalities included one each at Indiana Women's, Miami, Putnamville and Wabash Valley.

New Castle has the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 among inmates with 338, along with 89 staff members.
