Patrick McAfee, 20, charged with murder in connection to Saturday's fatal shooting

INDIANAPOLIS -- Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection to a fatal shooting over the weekend.

Just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, IMPD officers responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Punto Alto Drive and Punto Alto Circle on the south side.

They arrived to find 38-year-old Juan Vega unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was not able to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday evening, police arrested 20-year-old Patrick McAfee on preliminary charges of murder, robbery and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon in connection to Vega's death.

McAfee was transported to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center to be taken into custody. As of Friday, he was being held without bail.
