ISP call search of Delphi property where teens found dead "a normal course of this investigation"

DELPHI, Ind. -- State and federal authorities executed a search warrant on Friday at the home of the Carroll County man who owns the property where two teenage girls were found murdered last month.

The property owner, Ron Logan, has been in custody since last week on an unrelated probation violation for a previous DUI conviction.

On Friday, Indiana State Police said they had developed more information that led them to request a new search warrant at the property.

"It's just a normal course of this investigation," said ISP Sgt. Tony Slocum. "We've served multiple search warrants so far. They can either exonerate a person or maybe require law enforcement to take a closer look."

Police had previously searched the property, and are still not calling Logan a suspect in the murders of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams last month.

“Just let the investigation run its course and this might not be the last search warrant we serve as part of investigating this double homicide,” said Sgt. Slocum.

Police have had to debunk multiple rumors regarding arrests in the case, including one recurring rumor that connects Logan to the girls' murders. State police have not made any arrests in connection with the the case.

"This isn’t the first search warrant that we’ve served," said Sgt. Slocum. "If you go by the social media sites we’d have a thousand people in jail by now.

Despite weeks of intensive effort by local, state and federal authorities – and thousands of tips from around the country – the girls' murderer has yet to be caught.

Logan told RTV6 in February that he's owned the property where the girls were found for 53 years, and that the discovery of their bodies on his land is something he still hasn't been able to come to terms with.

“To have something like this in your own house, your own home - I just can’t get my mind around it yet, it’s really difficult,” Logan said. “I can’t comprehend it.”

Andrew Achey, Logan's attorney, released the following statement on March 17:

"I have received several phone calls over the past several days from media outlets concerning Mr. Ronald Logan and his possible involvement in the deaths of the girls in Carroll County. I have known Mr. Logan for several years and have represented him in unrelated legal matters. Stated simply, Mr. Logan had no involvement in this heinous crime. I would like to caution the public to avoid jumping to conclusions before law enforcement has completed the ongoing investigation. Not only does Mr. Logan maintain his innocence but he also encourages anyone with information to call the tip line at (844) 459-5786 or send an email to abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com."

Indiana State Police released a picture of a suspect, which was taken by Liberty on her cell phone. She also captured a man's voice saying "down the hill" during what police call "criminal activity." You can listen to that recording and see the photo below.
