INDIANAPOLIS -- Two men were killed in a shooting on Indianapolis' northeast side Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened just before 11:30 a.m. at a home near the intersection of E 30th Street and Caroline Avenue.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said one of the men was found dead inside a home and the other was found dead outside of the home. They were identified as Mark Secrest Jr, 25, and John Easley, 27.
No other details surrounding the shooting were yet available.
An analysis of IMPD data shows police have filed 184 incident reports within a half-mile radius of the shooting scene over the past three months. Of those, the majority have been for reports of larceny (29), vandalism (25) and assault (24).
Only one criminal homicide has occurred within the same radius -- that of 38-year-old Aaron Ivy on April 28.
The address falls within the Martindale-Brightwood area, which ranked as the city's second-deadliest neighborhood in 2016 with 19 criminal homicides.

Prior to this incident, IMPD had investigated four criminal homicides in Martindale-Brightwood so far in 2017:
- Frederick Reed Sr., 55
- Trymaine Lewis, 37
- Aaron Ivy, 38
- Brandon Thomas, 31
A fifth fatal shooting, that of 28-year-old John Jones, was ruled to be self-defense.
