INDIANAPOLIS -- The victim has been identified in a deadly hit-and-run Sunday night on Indianapolis' northwest side.

Police say Tyler Cooper, 23, of Indianapolis was struck and killed just after 9 p.m. in the 6000 block of Lafayette Road as he tried to push his vehicle out of the roadway.

An SUV traveling south on Lafayette hit Cooper and drove off, according to officers.

Police say Terry Ferguson, 62, was arrested Saturday night and preliminarily charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Ferguson provided a statement to a DUI investigator and was taken Eskenazi Hospital for a blood draw.
