The Indiana State Board of Education has released the spring 2018 ISTEP+ results weeks after they were initially supposed to be released.
The state reports that performance remained stable across grades 3-8 with slight increases in grade 8 English-language arts and grade 3 math.
SCORES | Results from the spring 2017 ISTEPtesting
The purpose of the ISTEP test is to measure student achievement in several different areas according to the Indiana Academic Standards adopted by the Indiana Board of Education.
- Mathematics
- English/Language Arts
- Science (Grades 4, 6 & 10)
- Social Studies ( Grades 5 & 7)
2018 was the fourth year of a new state assessment for third through eighth grades based on Indiana's more rigorous college and career-ready standards after withdrawing from Common Core.
This year's results were supposed to be presented to the State Board of Education back in August, but they were delayed because of two issues win the final ISTEP+ results: A grade 10 mathematics graphing item and grades 3-8 and 10 document image reconciliation.
The Department of Education says only a small percentage of students in grades 3-8 and 10 were likely impacted by the issues.
