AVON — The new superintendent of the Avon Community School Corporation already knows his way around the large Hendricks County school system.
Dr. Scott Wyndham was named by the Avon School Board to succeed Dr. Margaret Hoernemann, who is retiring after leading the district for eight years.
Wyndham has been the district's Assistant Superintendent and Director of Finance and Operations since 2016. Prior to that, he was Director of Special Education for Brownsburg Community School Corporation and served as a building and district administrator in Marion County's Wayne Township. He taught at the elementary and high school level prior to moving into administration.
“We received many excellent applicants from inside and outside of Indiana. Following an extensive search that included input from our community members, families, staff and students, Dr. Wyndham emerged as the frontrunner,” said ACSC Board President Anne Engelhardt. “We are confident in his ability and vision to continue moving the district forward in academic growth, equity and financial efficiency.”
“I am honored to continue serving the Avon community as the next superintendent. The vision and leadership of the Board of School Trustees was evident throughout the interview process and I believe we are poised to continue making great progress as a school district. I am thankful to Dr. Hoernemann for her strong leadership of ACSC for the past eight years and to the ACSC staff working hard every day for our students. My family has called Avon home for 13 years and I am honored to work and live in this great community.”
As superintendent of the 10,000 student district, Wyndham will be in charge of 12 schools and supervise 1,200 employees.
