PERRY TOWNSHIP — It's hard to believe, but students are heading back to school already. Students in Perry Township are some of the first to head back into the classroom.
Students at more than 20 different schools in Perry Township start classes on Wednesday, July 24, and they'll be heading into some brand new classrooms when they return.
Perry Meridian Middle School has 21 new classrooms for the 2019-20 school year and Southport Middle School has an additional 18 classrooms. The extra space is meant to allow the district to accomodate more than 450 additional sixth through eighth grade students who are expected to enroll by 2021.
The new classrooms were paid for with savings from the existing construction fund and rainy day funds the distract had saved up. Perry Meridian High School also received a little update over the summer, getting new carpeting, new bleachers in the gym and new LED lights.
If you haven't already, be sure to check your student's bus route online because the school system says they may have been adjusted for the new school year.
