IU Bloomington not requiring SAT or ACT scores on applications

BLOOMINGTON —Indiana University Bloomington says it will no longer require prospective students to submit standardized test scores on their applications.

The policy change was unanimously approved by the Bloomington faculty council earlier this week. It means undergraduates applying for the fall 2021 semester and on can choose whether or not to have their SAT or ACT scores considered as part of their application.

The university says they made the change because some students feel that their scores do not accurately reflect their academic potential.

There are some groups of students that the scores will still be required. Homeschooled students and those subject to NCAA standards must still submit theirs.

Applications with the test score option will be available starting August 1.
