DELAND, FL. — A Florida man was arrested after posting threats on Facebook to a member of Tyler Trent's family.

Tyler Trent, Purdue alum and super fan, passed away on Jan. 1 after his notable fight and journey with terminal cancer.

John Matthew Pinkham made multiple posts using a alias as "Julie Homan," on Trent's Facebook page.

Following news of Trent's passing on New Years day, Pinkham started posting threats of violence at a celebration of life for Trent, that was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but has now been pushed back to Wednesday.

His posts mentioned said the following: “Cant wait till I can choke the life out of you,” … “funerals coming and I will appear like the reaper,” “just wait until ya'll hear what I do at his funeral..i promise I will make headlines..I will kill his mother.. just watch I will be talked about forever..this is no idol threat.”

Pinkham was taken into custody at his home in Deltona, Florida today. From there he was transported to a substation for questioning and then charged with making written threats to kill or injure — a felony charge carrying a bond of $10,000.

Trent was a cancer activist and has been recognized across the nation for his positive attitude and spirit.
