INDIANAPOLIS — The fourth annual "Shoot for Success," by Studio 57 gave 30 to 40 homeless high school seniors a full senior portrait experience in Indianapolis.
After an afternoon of pampering - professional makeup, grooming, light wardrobe and hair styling - Studio 57 gave every single teen a special photo session.
In 2015 Studio 57's Executive Director, Andrea Smith, started the program because she believed everyone - no matter their financial status - deserved to be seen.
"I started this program because senior year in high school, and graduation, are milestones that should be recognized and celebrated," Smith said. "Due to these young people's circumstances, senior pictures would not happen for them otherwise."
Smith personally does a lot of volunteer and outreach work, but Shoot for Success is dear to her heart.
"I want people to know that Shoot for Success is an impactful event for these young people," Smith said. "It takes a village and this is our small villages' way of letting these young people know that they are not forgotten, and that we see their achievements despite their circumstances - and we want them to win!"
The event is in collaboration with Outreach Inc. and The Artitorium. Smith says that thanks to sponsors and volunteers this event has steadily grown.
"Due to the kind generosity of our sponsors we have been able to give away laptop computers, Beats headphones, as well as multiple $100 monetary scholarships to the seniors," Smith said. "The outpouring of love and gratitude expressed by the teens during last years event was confirmation that it was a huge success. With the support of our kind sponsors and volunteers, we are able to do great things for these homeless teens."
