INDIANAPOLIS — Students at the McKenzie Career Center are preparing for a career in technology while doing something they love: Playing video games.
Okay, they aren't just PLAYING the games, they're actually making them too.
Students in the program develop and create two video games from start to finish. They start by developing a story line, creating 3D models and textures and then they program the different levels.
A team of instructors works with them along the way and their goal is to get students excited about coding, which is a staple in the technology industry.
The program is part of the McKenzie Career Center's IDEW partnership with IUPUI, so students are also gaining college credits while completing the course.
And when they graduate, these students will have to skills to begin in entry level coding jobs or pursue their education further in the field.
