GREENWOOD — Students at the Area 31 Career Center are getting the chance to get ready for the supply chain industry.

Students in the Supply Chain Logistics Management program aren't just throwing things in boxes, they're figuring out how to pack them properly for shipping and learning the managerial side of the business. That includes team building, ethics and critical thinking.

Students then put their skills to use at the Vincennes University warehouse. They also get the chance to listen to guest speakers and go on company tours to see how the business really works.

Everything they learn sets them up for jobs from entry level picking and packing to becoming a driver and all the way to the managerial level.

Students who complete the program get dual credit with Vincennes University and four industry credentials.

At the end of the semester, students also get to meet with employers, who instructors say are just "chomping at the bit" to get more experienced workers into their warehouses.
