INDIANAPOLIS — Students are learning the best practices and law enforcement techniques in the classroom before heading into the real world to start their careers.
Learning how to fingerprint is key in the world of law enforcement, and high school students at the J Everett Light Career Center are taking a hands on approach to obtaining these skills. They analyze the fingerprints by placing them on balloons to determine the pattern.
The career center caters this program to tap into the interests of those students who are seeking a future in public safety.
Students can't apply for a job with the police department until they turn 21, but the high school program allows them to receive training early that can give them an edge once they are able to apply.
The J Everett Light Career Center doesn't just offer law enforcement training. They offer a wide rage of programs for students interested in multiple career choices.
