INDIANAPOLIS — Eskenazi Health is looking for teenagers interested in its "2020 VolunTEEN Summer Program".
For young people considering a career in medicine, the program is a great way to learn about the real world health care environment in a major urban hospital.
Teenagers between 14 and 19-years-old and in good academic standing are invited to apply. All applicants must turn 14-years-old by April 10 to be considered. These are non-paid volunteer positions.
"The Eskenazi Health VolunTEEN Summer Program contributes greatly to the education of many outstanding future health care professionals and will serve them well as they pursue their lofty career goals while serving communities they'll live and work in," said Scott Lawson, manager of Eskenazi Health Volunteer Services. "Eskenazi Health VolunTEEN program participants serve the community and accrue service hours that contribute to their college application and scholarship goals while gaining invaluable experience working with Eskenazi Health professionals."
This year's program is focusing on mentoring youth and preparing them for a future in health care professions. Participants will complete "mock rotations" throughout the Eskenazi clinical and business offices.
There are two four-week summer sessions, one in June and one in July. About 50 positions are filled each year. There's an online application to complete.
