COLUMBUS—The U.S. Postal Service is looking for mail carriers.
In an effort to fill open positions, the Columbus Post Office plans a job fair this coming Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 450 Jackson Street in downtown Columbus.
According to Postal Service spokesperson Mary Dando, there is a real need for mail carriers.
Rural carrier associates and assistant rural carriers receive starting pay of $17.78 per-hour.
Each job requires at least two years of driving experience and a good driving record.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident alien.
These are non-career positions that offer limited health benefits, but usually lead to regular full-time employment with the Postal Service, according to Dando.
At the job fair, postal employees will help with completing applications and will also show videos that describe Postal Service jobs.
