COLUMBUS — Interested in a job with the U.S. Postal Service? The agency has an event coming up where anyone interested can find out more.
The U.S. Postal Service is organizing a job fair at the Columbus post office, 450 Jackson St., on June 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
USPS employees will be on hand with information on completing applications and also will show videos that describe jobs with the Postal Service.
The Postal Service on an ongoing basis has vacancies for rural carrier associates ($17.78 per hour) and assistant rural carriers ($17.78 per hour — Saturdays, Sundays and observed holidays only). Each of these jobs require two years' driving experience and a good driving record.
These are non-career positions that offer limited health benefits, but usually lead to regular full-time employment, according to a news release from the Postal Service.
Attendees at the job fair must be over 17 years old.
All applicants for USPS positions must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident alien, a citizen of American Samoa or any other territory owing allegiance to the Unied States.
